Last weekend, thanks to the help of our baby's grandparents and great-grandparents, we were able to finish our little girl's nursery!! (Well almost... we still have the little wallpaper pictures to put up once we decide where they all should go. :) )
My parents and grandparents had all come to Wichita for the baby shower and to spend some time with us for the weekend. As soon as they got here and saw the room they jumped in to help!
The biggest part of the project was finishing the closet. We had a long closet (7 feet long inside!) but you could only get in through a small 24" door! So we had torn out the wall and put in sliding doors so that we could access the space better. Brad had installed some great shelves tucked in one side for storage, but we still needed to paint the closet and install the shelving and rod system we had bought. We also needed to install new blinds on the window and change out the electrical outlets and vent cover. The rest of the room still needed painted so that we could bring home the furniture we had purchased shortly after we found out we were expecting.
It seemed like an insurmountable task - but many hands make light work. My grandparents were able to help us get the closet primed and trim painted in the room Friday afternoon. My parents arrived Friday night and early Saturday morning my grandparents were back to help again. We finished painting the room Saturday morning before the shower, and while "us girls" went to the baby shower the "boys" went and picked up the baby furniture. By that night we had the room mostly set up, as well as a new drip system installed in the front yard!
The drip system is great - all of our plants are flourishing now that they don't have to depend on us remembering to water them! :)
Saturday night we had a barbecue at our house with all of the family who were in town - my parents and grandparents, Brad's mom, Sister T and Vicki, and Paul and Ann Konecny with their two little girls - Libby and Sadie.
We are so grateful for all of the hard work our family has put in to help us feel more "ready" for our little girl's arrival. While it still seems overwhelming with how quickly time is flying by, at least we know that she has a place in our home to call her own! (See the pictures in a slideshow below!!)
