In just a few short weeks Kyra has learned to crawl! It began as scooting, with Kyra pulling herself forward with her arms, but just a few days later she had pushed herself up onto her knees and was really crawling! Every day she learns how to do it better too - as she can now manage to get halfway down the hallway or into the kitchen in a matter of moments. (No more turning your back, mommy and daddy!)
On July 13th Kyra got her first haircut! Mommy managed not to shed any tears while her Grammie Trish snipped and trimmed her little locks. It is amazing how much older the trim made Kyra look... our baby is turning into a little girl!
Kyra has also learned how to push herself into a sitting position from a lying position, and how to then pull herself up to stand. This discovery meant it was finally time to lower the crib mattress... especially after the morning we went in to get Kyra up and she was standing leaning over the top rail!
Kyra has two favorite games right now. One is "chase" where either mommy and daddy chase her, or she chases them. She giggles and crawls or cruises fast to run away from "big bear daddy!" The second is "catch" where she will try to throw/roll her ball to mommy and mommy throws/rolls it back.
Today she started lifting her hands and shrugging in an "I don't know" position when asked questions like, "Where is Daddy?" or "Where is your ball". It is so cute - and amazing to see how much she understands. She can also tell the difference between her toys, if you put her block and doll in front of her and say, "Here is your block, and her is your doll," then ask her where her block is, she will pick up the block, and vice versa.
Kyra has FOUR teeth now! The middle two on the top and bottom. This meant it was time to begin brushing her teeth. Using baby toothpaste and the little finger brush, mommy brushed Kyra's little teeth for the first time. Kyra seemed to enjoy the experience - however mommy ended up with a sore finger after Kyra bit down a few times. :) I think we will be looking for a baby toothbrush soon!
