I'm sure most of you reading this know of the changes that have been happening with our family - which have led to the extreme neglect of this blog. :( Fortunately though they have been good changes - specifically our purchase of a new house!
The whole process seemed like a whirlwind - and we definitely saw God's hand at work. We had been feeling for awhile that we would like to move to a home that had more space, both for our family and for friends and extended family to be able to come over and visit comfortably. We began looking online at homes on the market, and saw that there was not a lot in our price range that fit our needs. We knew God would have to provide just the right house. We thought we found one at one point, put in an offer and put our home on the market. That offer fell through - meanwhile our home sold in 24 hours! We were nervous at first that we might not be able to find a home in time for the 30-day closing on our old house - but God allowed us to find a home that not only met - but exceeded our needs and expectations. We are so blessed!
We now live three minutes from the church which makes Desirae's commute MUCH easier for her job as the Nursery Coordinator. Brad's commute is about the same milage, but takes longer because of traffic. It is nice to be close to the church family and friends - as well as much closer to stores, etc. that we like to visit. Our new house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and kitchen upstairs, and two "bedrooms", a half bath and a large rec-room/family room downstairs. The downstairs bedrooms do not have egress windows so they cannot technically be considered bedrooms. Right now we are using the smaller one as an office and the larger one as a playroom for Kyra. **Will get pictures up soon**
One of the reasons for delay in getting pictures up - we have several projects we wanted to get done first. Starting with new carpet for the upstairs, and smaller updates like new light fixtures and installing ceiling fans. Pretty much every room will need some painting, most of the upstairs is a light mauve. We are also having a shower put into the hall bathroom (it only had a tub before). We hired a contractor to help with the big stuff, and hopefully it will be finished soon.
Kyra is getting SO big! She talks incessantly about everything, and I love hearing her sing - especially when she first wakes up. Her favorite thing to do right now is play outside - another blessing of our new house is a large, fenced backyard. The kitchen is on the back of the house so I can keep an eye on Kyra while she is playing even if I have things to do inside. We recently found a large slide/climber that she really enjoys. She would play in the sandbox every day if she could too - as she loves digging around in the sand or dirt, collecting rocks, acorns, and rollie-pollies.
As you can see in the pictures Kyra loves baking and cooking with mommy, especially with the little pans her Grandpa and Grandma Roths bought for her. I found a cookbook at a garage sale that has recipes made for little pans (mini-sized recipes made for easy-bake ovens, but they work great with her pans and the toaster oven too). It is really fun making miniature cakes and cookies.
We have been enjoying really warm (sometimes hot) weather lately, so we will be going to the "park" (school playground) across the street a lot more often, as well as visiting the zoo and hopefully the pool. There is a pool just across the school playground from our house!
