It has been awhile since we have posted an update, so this will be a long one. :)
After Kyra's birthday came Halloween, and Kyra was a cute little Ladybug! She loved carrying her little Halloween bucket (a pink jack o' lantern shaped bucket), and saying "Tik or Teek!" The evening before Halloween we took her to our little local library where they were giving away candy and coloring pages, and had a little bean-bag toss game. From there we walked along the strip mall where all of the store owners were giving away candy. Kyra seemed to like seeing other kids in costumes, calling another little girl dressed as a princess, "pretty". The next night we took Kyra to a church that had a Fall Festival. They had inflatable things to jump in, and some little games like bean-bag toss, picking up duckies out of a pool, and tossing wet sponges at a target. Kyra enjoyed the games, but was afraid of the inflatables. Her favorite game was "Can You Milk A Cow?" Where she got to sit on a milkstool and try to "milk" the fake cow. Prizes were little toys like bracelets and mini-slinkies as well as candy.
The first week in November Kyra and Mommy took a trip down to Oklahoma to visit Grammy and Pawpa. Kyra was excited about the trip - though she still missed her Daddy and wished he could have come with them! Reading with Pawpa and helping Grammy with the dishes were some of the things Kyra enjoyed most. (Especially since Grammy let Kyra stick her feet in the water!)
On Friday, Nov. 20th, Grammy and Pawpa drove up to Wichita for an early Thanksgiving. Brad was up early Saturday morning getting the Turkey on the BBQ Smoker, and Desirae and Grammy worked hard baking pies and other Thanksgiving goodies. :) Kyra loved having Grammy and Pawpa there to play with. On Sunday, after Kyra woke up from her nap and found out Grammy and Pawpa had gone home she asked, "They come back in a few minutes?" AWWWWWWWWWWWW!
The next week Brad, Desirae and Kyra headed out to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri to spend Thanksgiving weekend with Great-Grandpa, Great-Grandma, Sister Tarcisia, and Tom, Angie and Mary Kate Connor. It was a great time with family, cooking, eating, playing games and talking. Kyra and Mary Kate got to decorate a Gingerbread House together. (Great-grandma showed Kyra that the gumdrops tasted GOOD, so we had to watch and keep her from sneaking too many.) :) Even though we brought some toys for Kyra to play with - her favorite ones were the tins of popcorn and treats that Great-Grandma keeps in the kitchen. Given a wooden spoon, Kyra would play those drums forever if it was not too loud. :)
Kyra enjoyed walking up the driveway with Great-Grandpa to get the mail. Being outside, her favorite pasttime was collecting the tops of acorns that had fallen. When she came back to the house she informed us that she was picking up "Butterfly Hats." I'm sure Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma will be finding little piles of "Butterfly Hats" on their decks that Kyra left behind.
One day after waking up from her nap Kyra said, "I'm all sweaty." Mommy responded that she was sorry that Kyra was sweaty, to which Kyra replied quite seriously - "Don't talk about it." :)
We (Of Course!) watched college football that weekend, and both Nebraska and OU won their games. Everyone (except Brad) loved hearing Kyra shout, "GO BIG RED!" :) Kyra liked Great-Grandma's toy pen and keychain that played the Husker fight song. Don't worry - Kyra also knows how to say, "BOOMER SOONER!" and "GO OU!"
Kyra has reached a big milestone with potty training, using the potty every time for #2 and lately telling us almost every time when she needs to "go". We are very proud of her - and she enjoys the treat of going to the park whenever she fills her potty-chart with stickers. (Although now with the colder weather, the playspace inside McDonald's has become the "park".) Kyra loves the slides - especially the BIG ones that make her go fast!
The last couple of nights we have been working on putting up Christmas decorations. First we put up the tree - with Kyra "helping" as much as she could. :) She loves seeing all of the "pretties" up around the house.
Next we are looking forward to Christmas - which becomes more fun each year as Kyra gets more excited and she is able to enjoy the fun of the season.
